PEEL Literature Review

An important component of the PEEL grant is the review of existing research and empirical evidence related to providing post-secondary educational services to students with disabilities. The University Teacing Center at the University of Arizona coordinated a comprehensive review of the literature on the following research topics:

  1. Strategies and methods of instruction to promote the acquisition of skills in written expression by students with learning disabilities in post-secondary settings.
    • Review of Effective Instructional Methods for Post-Secondary Student Writers with LD [annotated bibliography]
  2. Instructional strategies that promote the acquisition of skills in written expression by students who are deaf and hard of hearing in post-secondary settings. [review article with citations]
  3. Effective educational strategies for increasing the retention of minority students with disabilities. [summary and annotated bibliography]

Activities related to these research topics include a synthesis of current research, the creation of publishable literature reviews, and the use of this information to help direct faculty and administrator development efforts.
